Jim Thorpe [Jim Thorpe]
(1888–1953) a US ↑athlete who is widely regarded as the greatest of the 20th century. He was the first to win both the ↑decathlon and ↑pentathlon events at the Olympic Games (in 1912). He later played professional baseball (1913–19) and professional football (1917–29). He was chosen for the Football ↑Hall of Fame in 1963.
